Rave Run - Ocala

Ross Crist sent us
this picture from the Ocala Marathon.
Runners are seen here making their way through the morning fog with huge
oak trees draping spanish moss in the background. The gently rolling hills and country roads
outside of Ocala going through "horse country" make for a beautiful
back drop for this race, run in late January each year. As with most Florida winter races, the
weather in January is usually perfect for a marathon. Unlike up north, winter is racing season in Florida
of course.
Note that this
really is "horse country".
Ocala is one of the top breading and training spots in the world for
both show horses and race horses. Some
of the farms are incredible, with their beautiful green pastures and million
dollar, air conditioned barns.
